The scholarships currently availible are in two categories and are not based on need. The first is the French Club Program Scholarship. Awarded to students who have completed the four-year program in French. The second is the French Club Acheivement Scholarship to be awarded to the student who shows the greatest aptitude and interest in the study of French. In the future scholarships may be made availible to graduates who major or minor in French. To qualify for the scholarships, students must have been enrolled in French at Garfield High, be graduating in the year they are awarded the scholarship, enrolled in college or university and continue in French. There is currently no limit to the number of Program Scholarships which may be awarded. There is only one winner of the Acheivement Scholarship. Continuation awards to be given in 2002 currently have no limits. The number and amount of awards given will depend on the success of fund raising efforts that school year.
